First things first: woah it's June! I've been somewhat MIA these last couple of weeks and the best excuse I can come up with is that life happened and I was too busy living it. Some years ago, I decided that blogging wasn't going to be my life but instead, it was going to archive it. So, while I was quite aware of my inactivity, I didn't stress too much about it.
And now for the very thing that drew me back in: say hello to my new Suesh 22-piece makeup brush set!
Just so it's out of the way though, this isn't going to be a review. I haven't had any legitimate reason to wear makeup lately so I don't think I can write an extensive review. Instead, I'm doing an overview so people will have an idea of what they're getting themselves into in case they find themselves purchasing the product too.
For anyone outside of the Philippines, Suesh is a cosmetics company with an impressive catalog displaying a wide variety of beauty-related products. This one, in particular, is limited edition (I actually didn't know it at the time that I ordered it) and retails for P4,000 in the Suesh website. Of course, as I have stressed many times before, I am a perpetually broke med student and wouldn't dream of spending that much on makeup (unless it's Urban Decay because why the hell not?), but luckily I stumbled upon it in Lazada during the Independence day sale period.
This is what it looks like unopened. It sort of reminds me of a classic/vintage book jacket with it's faux leather finish. Size-wise, it's comparable to your average-sized notebook in height and width and maybe about double an average pocket book in thickness. It's bulky, but with good reason, as it does house 22 brushes.
Left side L-R: large powder brush, big stippling brush, tapered stippling brush, angled blush brush
Right side L-R: large and small crease brush, large and small eyeshadow brush, large concealer brush, tapered blending brush
The right side that holds the eye brushes is actually a rigid flap that you can turn to reveal the rest of the brushes.
Right side L-R: bullet brush, eyeliner brush, angled eyeliner brush, thin lip brush, another eyeliner brush, lip brush, small concealer brush
Left side L-R: small stippling brush, bronzer brush, fluff brushes, foundation brush
Left side L-R: small stippling brush, bronzer brush, fluff brushes, foundation brush
I've only owned one other brush set -- the Charm 14-piece Vegan Brush Set -- which I love and have been using for almost three years, and while I think it's unfair to compare it with this new one since I haven't really used this, as early as now, I think it's safe to say that this can definitely give my Charm set a run for its money. (And because I'm rather brand loyal, I hate to admit that the Suesh foundation brush easily owns its Charm counterpart.)
Personally, I think Suesh is best known for their brushes, and rightfully so. The Philippine market is something that most makeup companies are only starting to tap into, and those that are already here are rather expensive, and hence, relatively out of reach. (Hello, MAC and Bobbi Brown!) So for anyone who's in a tight budget, wants to support local products, and isn't willing to compromise quality, Suesh (and Charm, because Charm is my first love) is the way to go.
It looks good :o

Feels nice on the skin too!! ;)
DeleteI am so not into make-up stuff, hence I sometimes try putting something on my lips since it's too pale and really ugly. I really wanted to buy that lip brush because I always find it struggling to hold a lipstick so maybe a lip brush can help. This is a good set, Jo! :)
ReplyDeleteOoh haha in that aspect we're totally different! I'm not too fond of using lip brushes because I prefer applying straight from the tube (despite a lot of people saying you get more precise application otherwise) but well, too each her own. Hope you'll get a hang of putting lipstick soon! ;)
